Deeply invested in the classical music industry as a whole, Alex is grateful to have been an invited speaker at a number of colleges and universities, including: the Juilliard School, Yale School of Music, the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University, New England Conservatory, and Peabody Conservatory. In this capacity, he has also visited with artist development programs, including: the Merola Opera Program, the International Meistersinger Academy, Music Academy (of the West), and Opera Theatre of Saint Louis' Gerdine Young Artist Program.
Alex has adjudicated a number of competitions, including the Juilliard School's Honors Recital Auditions, McCammon Voice Competition in Fort Worth, Texas, the Opera Birmingham Competition in Alabama, the University of Cincinnati College-Conservatory of Music's Opera Scholarship Competition, Schmidt Vocal Arts' Undergraduate Vocal Competition and the Academy of Vocal Arts' Giargiari Competition. Since 2018, he annually serves as a judge for the District and/or Regional levels of the Metropolitan Opera Laffont Competition.
Alex received his bachelor's degree in Business Administration, cum laude, from the University of Mary Washington in Fredericksburg, Virginia, and is a native of Fairfax, Virginia.
